CSCS and QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework)
CSCS is working with ConstructionSkills, employers and awarding bodies to determine how they new QCF structure, due to be introduced in September 2010, will work with the criteria for applying for CSCS cards.

SmartCard Interest Grows
UK construction industry interest in the CSCS SmartCard is growing and even though we are only really in the third month of SmartCards being issued, there has been a steady stream of card reader sales and downloads of the SmartCard synchronisation software.

Working to Raise Awareness in Central Government
CSCS is working on an ongoing government and stakeholder relations programme throughout 2010 to develop improved links and awareness with government departments, agencies, MPs and key public sector procurers. The aim is to increase understanding about CSCS and the reasons why holding a valid card is important, along with the benefits and cost savings that can be achieved by using SmartCards.

New Route to CSCS for managers and supervisors
CSCS has been working with a team of industry representatives to develop a route to CSCS cards for highly experienced construction managers and supervisors which provides an appropriate alternative to achieving S/NVQs or gaining membership of a Professional body. This will be called the Profiling Route.
