CSCS provides people employed on construction sites with a portable means of identity and proof of competence to carry out their work on site.
For contractors and clients the cards bring business benefits that help to improve on-site efficiency and cut costs.
There is a range of CSCS cards to reflect the varied occupations in construction. Before applying check you have selected the right card for the work you undertake.
To apply you need to:
- demonstrate you have achieved the recognised qualifications required for your occupation
- pass the relevant Health Safety and Environment test
- submit a signed application form
- pay fees of £17.50 for the test and £30.00 for the card.
Most contractors and construction clients insist that workers on their sites hold the appropriate CSCS card for the work they undertake. You can read more about some of them in the case studies section of the website.
CSCS is a not-for-profit limited company. Its directors are from employer organisations and unions representing the breadth of the industry.
CSCS is administered under contract by CITB.
