Profiled Route is now closed

Published: April 1, 2016

Profiled Route was introduced in 2011 as a route to the Black or Gold Card for construction site managers or supervisors who have on-site experience but no nationally recognised qualification in construction.

With the announcement made by the construction leadership council, Profiled Route no longer supports industry’s desire for a fully qualified workforce.

To find out more about why Profiled Route is closed visit the changes to Profiled Route webpage.

Applicants will still be able to apply for a Construction Site Manager or Construction Site Supervisor CSCS card, but will be required to complete an NVQ/SVQ levels 4, 5, 6 or 7*.

What to do next:

To obtain the Gold Supervisory Card you must now complete the NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Supervision.

Visit the Supervisor card flowchart for further information on applying for this card.

To obtain the Black Managers Card you must now complete the NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Construction Site Management.

Visit the Manager card flowchart for further information on applying for this card.

Where can you find Training Providers that deliver these courses?

Here is a list of the Awarding Bodies who have approved training providers delivering the NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Supervision and the NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Construction Site Management.

Timescales

You must be an experienced (normally 1 year in the last three) Site Supervisor or Site Manager in order to register for the NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision or Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management.

The average completion time of these qualifications is between 3-12months

Funding

As these are nationally recognised qualifications there may be funding available depending on your circumstances. Your training provider will be able to give advice on local funding which may be available.

If you are employed your company may be able to claim some of the costs through their CITB Training Plan. If you are unemployed you should talk to your Job Centre.

For further information on the changes please visit the Frequently Asked Questions on the CSCS website.

The qualification you need to achieve will depend on what job you do on a construction site. Check the requirements using the CSCS Card Finder.
