With over 1.9 million card holders in the UK CSCS is the largest certification scheme for construction.
Most major trade associations, professional institutions, clients and contractors support the Scheme because it provides a simple, consistent way for construction workers to show that they have the required qualifications and training to work on a construction site.
Here’s what some of them say:
“Build UK is a strong supporter of CSCS and a CSCS card provides an effective and consistent means of demonstrating qualifications and skills within the construction industry. The new Build UK Training Standard will reflect the recommendation from the Construction Leadership Council to recognise industry card schemes that carry the CSCS logo and we would recommend and support all members of the contracting supply chain in obtaining the appropriate CSCS card for their occupation and the activity that they undertake on site. We will also be working with CSCS to ensure the application of the smart technology in a way that will increase efficiency and productivity for everyone.” Suzannah Nichol MBE, Chief Executive, Build UK
“SBF recognises the vital role CSCS plays in promoting the highest possible standards of safety and productivity. We remain firmly committed to continually raising the bar in all these areas – and CSCS is a practical and effective way of helping to achieve that.” Vaughan Hart, Managing Director, SBF
“UCATT, the construction union, totally supports the CSCS card scheme as it is one of the most important ways of improving safety across the whole of the construction industry.” Steve Murphy, General Secretary, UCATT
The Scottish Government has a policy for the assessment of skills standards on construction sites. All companies engaged in new public sector construction contracts must ensure that on-site staff are registered with CSCS or an equivalent. Find out more here.
