Health and Safety Awareness Course Goes Online

Published: October 7, 2020

CITB have introduced an online version of the Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) Course. The online course can be used to apply for the green Labourer card.

Most people in construction are familiar with the Labourer card. It’s the card that was introduced to help site managers verify that people working in Labouring occupations have achieved the RQF Level 1 (Level 4 in Scotland) Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment or one of the approved alternative courses, including the CITB HSA course.

CITB have now developed a version of the HSA course which can be completed entirely online using both e-learning and e-assessment.

CSCS Scheme Manager Angeleen Hill said “Ensuring the integrity of the examination process is absolutely paramount to CSCS, which is why CSCS has a strict e-assessment policy which ensures the security of the examination process. I am pleased to confirm that CITB’s online HSA course has met CSCS’s e-assessment policy.”

The online version of the HSA course provides learners with a flexibility that they previously didn’t have. It doesn’t matter where a learner lives or works, as long as they can access the internet and meet CITB’s invigilation requirements, they can complete this course and gain the CSCS green Labourer card.
