CRO occupations with qualifications that require enhancement
A number of CRO occupations have qualifications that currently don’t meet the nationally recognised standard for those skilled occupations.
For many of these occupations the sector representatives and the standard setting bodies are working together to bring these qualifications up to the agreed national standards.
A full list of the qualifications under review is available here.
When the qualification for your CRO occupation becomes available you will be expected to register for and complete the qualification before your CRO card expires*.
On completion of your qualification you will be able to apply for a skilled CSCS card.
If you wish to enquire about, or participate in, the development of any of these qualifications please contact the trade association responsible for your occupation. Contact details for the trade associations are contained in the link above.
*Important notes: If you have registered for the newly available qualification you have the following options:
- Complete the qualification before your CRO card expires. All CRO cards issued since October 2015 expire at the end of September 2017. CRO cards issued before October 2015 are valid for five years from the date of issue.
- If you are unable to complete the qualification before your CRO card expires you can apply for the Experienced Worker Card. This card is valid for one year and is non-renewable. The Experienced Worker Card enables you to gain access to site while you complete your qualification if your CRO card has expired. You must complete the qualification before the Experienced Worker Card expires, if you do not complete the qualification before your Experienced Worker Card expires you will be unable to obtain another CSCS card. Full details of card application requirements for the Experienced Worker card can be found here
Please note: If your CRO card expires before your qualification becomes available you should contact CSCS to discuss what, if any, temporary card options are available to you.
Or
- If you are new to the industry and your qualification is under development you may be able to apply for the Provisional Card. This card lasts for six months and is not renewable. However, it enables you to gain access to site while your qualification is under development. Full details of the Provisional card application requirements can be found here. When your qualification becomes available you should transfer from the Provisional card to the Trainee card. Full details of the Trainee card application requirements can be found here.
