Ways to check a card
There are a number of ways to check whether a CSCS card is valid.
CSCS Smart Check
The CSCS Smart Check app allows all 2.1 million cards in the construction industry displaying the CSCS logo to be verified using a single app.
Available on the App Store and Google Play, CSCS Smart Check allows all cards with a CSCS logo – both physical and virtual – to be checked using either QR codes, Contactless or Manual Input.
Find out more about the app via the CSCS Smart Check homepage and watch our range of instructional videos on the CSCS YouTube channel.
Use Go Smart
It couldn’t be easier. All CSCS cards are Smart – they contain a chip which allows the card to be scanned using a phone, tablet or PC. Employers can read the information stored on the card using a smartphone or tablet device with the free Go Smart app installed.
Important note: Go Smart is available on iPhone and Android devices.
A quick scan using Go Smart enables you to:
- Confirm the holder’s identity, qualifications and training
- Check that the card is valid
- Identify fake and expired cards

Here you will be able to verify the card holder’s qualifications and training as well as checking if the card is valid or “expired.”
