Applying for CSCS cards
Online applications are quicker and more convenient than any other means of application.
Before you begin an online application, make sure that you have:
- A passport style photo of your head and shoulders against a white background
- A scanned copy of your qualification certificate, or proof that you are registered to complete a recognised construction related qualification relevant to your occupation.
- A scanned copy of your pass certificate for the appropriate level of CITB Health, safety and environment (HSE) test, and dated to within the last 2 years.
- A credit or debit card to pay the £36 application fee.
Important note: existing card renewals temporarily unavailable
We are unable to renew existing cards at this time. The card renewal service will be back up and running next week (commencing 16th December).
Please note: CSCS cards can be renewed up to 6 months after their expiry date. If your renewal isn’t urgent, may we ask that you return to the website next week and start your application then.

Apply as an employer

Apply over the phone
Applying online is the quickest and most convenient way to apply for your CSCS card.
If you do not have a CSCS Online account, you can apply over the phone by calling 0344 99 44 777.
Please be advised that you will need access to your email account during the call so that we can verify your details and complete the application process.
The quickest way to get in touch is via your new CSCS online account. If you already have an account, please login and select “Query” on the top menu, enter your details, and a member of the team will come back to you soon.
If you do not have an online account, then please call 0344 994 4777 (8am to 6pm Monday to Friday).
Please note: A verification message is sent to your email address during the account registration process. If you do not click the verification link contained in this message CSCS are unable to complete your application and issue the card. Watch the video above for further information on the registration process.
When your application has been approved your CSCS card will be posted out to you the next working day. Most cards arrive at their requested destination within 3-5 days of application approval. If your card does not arrive within 10 days then please contact CSCS.
All CSCS cards cost £36 and all CITB HSE tests cost £21.
There are a number of organisations that offer card application services. If you are being charged more than £36 for a card or £21 for a CITB Health, safety & environment test, please check that you understand what additional services you will receive. The cheapest and quickest way to apply for a card will be to apply directly to CSCS via the online application service.
