Blasting sector occupations transferred

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is notifying the industry that blasting occupations are being transferred to the Blasting Competency Scheme (BCS). BCS is run by the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC).
Following discussions between the two schemes, it is agreed that the BCS is better placed to represent the blasting sector and that the following occupations should be transferred:
- Shotfiring
- Blast Design
- Profiling
- Storage
- Explosive Supervision
- Bulk Explosive Truck Operations
From 1st February, all new applications, both for first time applications and renewals, for the above occupations should be directed to the BCS. More information can be found here or by calling 0115 972 6121.
As part of the card renewal process CSCS will be reminding card holders of the steps to be taken to move across to the BCS.
