Alternatives to taking a CITB Health, safety & environment test
Applicants for Apprentice cards do not need to take the CITB Health, safety & environment test if they have completed the health and safety requirements relevant to their Apprenticeship Managing Agency within the two years prior to applying for the card.
Evidence accepted is:
A letter or email from the Managing Agency of your apprenticeship (which clearly identifies that they are a Managing Agency) confirming you have completed health and safety training that meets the Managing Agency’s requirements
A certificate for a one-day Construction Health and Safety Awareness course
A Construction Health and Safety unit included in your induction or initial qualification
CSCS have approved the acceptance of the CIC Health and Safety Test as equivalent to the CITB Manager and Professional (MAP) Level Health, safety and environment test, but only for the purpose of applying for an Academically Qualified Persons card or a Professionally Qualified Persons CSCS card.
The CIC Health and Safety test is also accepted when applying for the five-year Trainee card. Registration for a construction-related degree, which upon completion is accepted for the AQP card, must be provided.
The CIC Health and Safety Test is not accepted for any other CSCS card and must have been passed within two years of the application being made.
The minimum order for this test is five courses. The test is not suitable for single users or self-employed professionals who have no-one to invigilate their exam. For further guidance please contact Accredex.
The SOLAS Safe Pass is an accepted exemption to the Operative or Specialist CITB Health, safety and environment test levels, providing it has been completed within two years of the card application being submitted.
SOLAS Safe Pass is not accepted in place of a Supervisor or Managerial and Professional (MAP) level CITB Health, safety and environment test.
