For years, verifying a worker’s CSCS card on site usually meant taking a photocopy and filing it away. It was manual, time-consuming and left site teams with no way of knowing if a card had since expired, been revoked, or was fraudulent to begin with.
Persimmon Homes decided there was a better way, with the use of CSCS Smart Check.
By embedding the Smart Check API into their Persimmon Way app, Persimmon replaced manual card checks with automated, real-time verification at every induction and every sign-in across all 270 of their sites.
What changed
Every time a worker signs in, their card is checked against the CSCS Smart Check database in real time. Expired, revoked or fraudulent cards are flagged automatically. No photocopies. No paper files. No relying on a check that was done once at induction and never revisited.
The results
The integration went live across all 270 Persimmon sites in approximately six months. Site managers have reported significant time savings, and the construction team now has full visibility of workforce credentials across the entire business.
