British Safety Council suspends The Digital College’s delivery of Labourer qualification

Published: May 3, 2018

The British Safety Council (BSC) has confirmed the suspension of the Digital College’s delivery of the RQF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

The Digital College is a British Safety Council approved examination centre for the RQF Level One Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

CSCS has also suspended recognition of certification by the Digital College for the award of the Labourers Card until further notice.

Following concerns around The Digital College security with the invigilation of e-assessment for this qualification, the British Safety Council has suspended approval of the Digital College. Graham Wren, Chief Executive at CSCS said: “On discovery that the end assessment was available online, in remote locations, without appropriate invigilation, we had no choice but to alert the British Safety Council that one of their approved providers was failing to deliver the end test to the required standards.”

CSCS do not recognise any e-assessment or testing that is carried in conditions where the invigilation does not meet the required standards, this is due to the high risk of malpractice.

So, what does this mean for those who have taken the RQF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment via the Digital College?

As of April 25, the Digital College have been suspended by the BSC from delivering the RQF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a construction environment.

Anyone who has achieved the qualification specifically via the Digital College have until Friday 11 May to apply for the CSCS Green Labourer card. Anyone applying from 12th May will be required to contact the British Safety Council to make arrangements to retake the qualification.

For the avoidance of doubt, the green Labourers card remains available to applicants as per the scheme rules.

This suspension ONLY effects those who have achieved the British Safety Council RQF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment via the Digital College, all other approved routes to the green Labourer card remain in place.
