From 1st September 2026, CSCS Cards Ltd will issue Institute of Explosives Engineers (IExpE) Certification Scheme cards in partnership with IExpE.
Historically, IExpE issued cards directly to its members working across the explosives industry, however from 1st September 2026 IExpE cards will be replaced by CSCS cards that are aligned to IExpE membership and qualification requirements
What’s Changing?
- IExpE cards will be replaced by CSCS cards aligned to IExpE membership and qualification requirements
- The application and membership process through IExpE remains unchanged
- Cardholders will now receive one card valid for three years (replacing three separate one-year cards)
- All CSCS cards issued are subject to a current IExpE membership. In the event that the IExpE membership is not renewed during the three year validity period of the card, the card will be revoled
New Features
The move to CSCS Cards introduces additional functionality in relation to card verification and digital access:
- NFC-enabled cards for on-site checks using CSCS Smart Check
- Access to the My CSCS app, including the My Skills feature
- Access to a digital card with a dynamic QR code for site access
My CSCS app & My Skills
The My CSCS app allows you to store and use your digital card, as well as giving you access to the My Skills feature within the My CSCS app, which acts as your Digital Skills Passport, allowing you to:
- Record additional skills, qualifications and training
- Build a shareable CV-style resume
What This Means for Current Cardholders
- Current cardholders will receive a replacement card of the new design by 15th September 2026
- Future renewals and replacement cards will be issued by CSCS, but still applied for directly with IExpE
