Expired and damaged cards
Please note that expired or damaged cards will not display on CSCS Smart Check.
If you encounter an expired or damaged card, hand the card back to its owner and request that they contact the relevant card scheme to arrange a replacement card.
Damaged cards that can still be read manually should afford the holder access to the site but those with expired cards must renew prior to being allowed on.
Reporting a suspected fraudulent card
If you suspect a fraudulent card and wish to report it, please do so via the app’s fraud reporting process and/or follow these instructions.
- Retain the card if possible
- Take photos of front and back – as high quality as possible
- Record cardholder’s name and address if possible
- Ask cardholder where the card was obtained from
- Contact the local police and report the matter*
- Refuse access to site (subject to company rules)
- Forward copies of all evidence to: The Operations Team, CSCS Ltd, 26 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT marked “SUSPECTED FRAUDULENT CARD”
- OR email [email protected] making sure to include copies of all evidence
All 38 card schemes displaying the CSCS logo will fully support any prosecution with technical and factual evidence.
*Please note: Contacting the police is at the discretion of each individual site and subject to company rules. We always recommend contacting the police as this information can be helpful to the authorities when investigating issues such as modern-day slavery, people trafficking and right to work investigations.
