Applying for a CSCS card as an Approved Welder

Welders who hold, or previously held, a card via CSWIP should now apply for their card directly through CSCS Cards.

The application process follows the same route as any other CSCS card application, with a few specific requirements for welders to be aware of.

To apply, you will need to:

• Download the My CSCS app and register for an account. Start the application process by selecting the Blue Skilled Worker card, the Approved Welder occupation and the ISO Standard you were assessed against.
• Upload the test ID from your CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test and a copy of your welding certification as evidence of your qualification.
• Once your application has been submitted and your evidence verified, you will be able to access your digital CSCS card through the My CSCS app, with your physical card posted to you. The app also gives you access to My Skills, allowing you to log and manage your qualifications and training records in one place.

If your existing CSWIP CSCS card is still valid, you do not need to do anything until it approaches expiry — it will continue to verify as normal via CSCS Smart Check.
